overpriced!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's not that they're too expensive, it's that you're too cheap!

Fish are worth what people will pay for them (like anything else). If it's too rich for your blood STFU and move on.

I'm ok with some fish being expensive, it adds to the status as a fish, I mean would you showcase a comet(nothing wrong with goldies) or a red dragon Arowana?

why why do people moan about price all the time

i think if you think the hobby is to expensive find another one

big tigers are expensive but most of them have been grown by someone for 5-7 years

tigs are not that expensive

Asian aros are expensive yes but all you people in the US ever do is moan that you cant get them if they were legal would you pay $1000+ for one

black rays are expensive but worth every cent if you ask me

just by what you can afford and what you like

my collection has taken me 10 years to get all the fish in one place no rush just get the fish you like even if it does take a few years

I sorta agree...but it really sucks when stuff in your area is expensive, and the exact same fish online is way cheaper =\ I'm talking about common fish(nothing like rays or aros lol), like how I had to pay $18 for my sen.bichir while some people here get them for $5 :irked:

to each his own... I think that people should be allowed to discuss prices without being told to get out of the hobby ;)

I think that was rather uncalled for ^

See what I mean about PBass? I mean, people will pay for them, but I would never buy them. To me, it seems totally irrational. But to someone else, PBass are very reasonably priced. Whatver floats our boats :)

i've seen some pricey guppies.... theyre like the fruit flies of fish as far as lifespan

ok i can see why people moan about a $500 + fish

but when they moan about the price of a $50 fish it makes no sense it costs money to import them

if you find it expensive put a deposit on the fish and save the money you may even love it more if you save and work hard for a fish you want bad

buying fish is like playing with the stock market you may pay big $$$$ for a fish then the prices may crash

only the rare stuff seam to hold the price

Short and straight to the point.:iagree:
you're both assuming that everyone sells them for the same price. most of us are refering to regular retailers and expensive breeders. if the hobby is meant to be expensive that's news to me. It's only expensive to those who make it so.

in fact each time I've traded hobbies it has become mroe economical. with my car I spent 10grand on it in upgrades over a 2 year period.

my computers I'd spend 1000$ every 4-6 months.

with the fish, I've yet to break 1000$ and that includes the pond, all my tanks, filters, heaters, fish, rock, driftwood, everything.

so making blanket statements that 200$+ fish purchases should be a normal part of the hobby is ridiculous imo. might as well be telling everyone to spend 10 grand in upgrades for their car.

now I would agree that fish like the rtc should be pricy to make sure that anyone buying one has the ability to house one. but some of the smaller fish really make no sense to me.
