If I had a retic I'd want to display it in a nice setup, like a converted walk-in closet that's scaped and detailed. The snake would even look better in an environment like that. Retics are definitely display worthy with their colors, no arguing that.

@fudgey, you must be from the camp that thinks they have the right to tell others what to do. Every animal you listed are in cages and tanks in my local zoos. It is perfectly reasonable for someone to have a large enclosure for these large animals. Animal cruelty is already legislated, so you must be worried about the danger. The owners are liable for any damages that result from attacks.

You show your maturity level when you suggest that anyone who disagrees with you is a ignorant person lacking any common sense. You might want to consider that there are view points other than your own.

This. Also, remember people that when you make something illegal, people still do it. It just becomes less regulated, more difficult to find the help do do the activity safely, more dangerous, more expensive, and follows the other problems of the black market.

This applies to animals, drugs, sex acts, etc.

Honestly? The premise of this sort of argument is just not there. Again, do you leave a problem to be, or just round up the fewer numbers of people doing illegal acts. I'm not referring to the reptile ban, just the idea in general.

I think we should all be making sound arguments without bias.

fudgey srry to be rude but id probably punch you in the face if you said that to me. That being said i understand the reason for the law, fudgey is just being childish in the way that you cant keep an open mind. I personally have a ballpython that is about 3 feet now and had it sense it was a baby no bigger than 7". this is not the first snake iv had in my life nor will it be the last. and in my years i have never once been bit by any of my pet snakes or anyone else's. I have also owned many dogs in my life and have been bit by them before with out even provoking them. Now you will probably think im a bad dog owner fine think what you like, but my dogs are better taken care of than most peoples. Yes my snake is in a fairly small tub right now but thats because they can live in those kinds of conditions and i am getting a 55 gallon tank for him. My snake has never hurt anyone and is taken care of very well. And for the ban it because people release them into the wild in unnatural habitats (NOT because they are dangerous) in which they begin to take over. This happens because people are not smart enough to find other means to get rid of them like animal control, animal shelters, zoos, or selling them online. Though i disagree with that law i understand why its there and would still wish to see it removed. People need to learn to not fear pets like these and instead learn to be responsible owners.

Lets not reopen the debate and give fodder to the haters.
