P. brachyura - anyone lucky enough to have one?

has nothing to do with being arrogant or a j/a...and absolutly has nothing to do with money as u probably make more than i do in a week, i guarentee u do as i go months with no income being self employed. Funny you dont have an opinion about what were even talking about. The debate is about large fish being sold when our entire forum is based of keeping them.

It is strange you are right the forum is based around large fish but then you get the people who buy on impulse and bring the fish home and then ask for a id

Then you get the people who do research but choose to ignore it

Then you get the people who intend on keeping the fish long term

So we get a different mix of members some who are in it for the long game others just buy a fish because they see it on river monsters

The hobby needs a mix of people

of course i have an opinion about the op... Just cus i didnt jump in and start praising or condemning is irrelevant. I may or may not have agreed with you. Again irrelevant. What ruffled my feathers or got my knickers in a twist, or whichever analogy you used, was the insinuation that because I only have a 'small' tank I dont have the right to be here ( I appreciate it wasnt directly aimed at me, but i fit the demographic) I come here to learn, like the majority of people here. In some ways to live vicariously through those who have tanks i could never have. Who does or doesnt earn more money was not even in question, i really couldnt care less. I made the true statement that I have neither the money nor the space for a bigger tank. You obviously do, great, good for you. That doesnt give you the right to look down on 'small' tank owners. The attention/effort/ dedication I have to my 'small' tank is probably exactly the same as yours, just scaled down for tank size. Anyway, ill get off my high horse now, but try and remember, whether you care or not, how you react to other peoples opinions directly effects their opinion of you, not your tank or if your fish is too big, you as a person. I think there have been too many examples in history of people who dont have the same as others or are different form others not being entitled to an opinion!

ok come on... hes appologised for the bad comment and acknowlaged it, tampons away. This should be an epic thread!

what sort of foot print is this tank you have?

the pics im googling of them look so, so awsome too, im here for the ideas, not that i could probably ever have something like this, but its something i and most people on here would be interested in hearing about

Thanks for the back up Fenton....really didnt mean to come off as a dick, i was backed into a corner lol...my new tank is 14'x8'x4' and will be around 3,200gal. Pretty irrevilent to all this now but just wanted to answer ur question. Even with this footprint i know its not enough for anything crazy, already thinking of the next build :) but i dont think my homes foundation can handle much more with more than that in gallons already down there. To people still hung up on the 180 comment give me a break. U all know uve probably said the same thing to some extent to someone that joins r site with a 55-75 housing a rtc. None of us are right.

How the **** have you made one that big? Any pics or build threads ?

too fenton...Im a porfessional industrial designer....welding is my specialty and ive made quite a few metal frame tanks by now from 65gal-650gal, this will be my largest by far. but there are links in my sig you should be able to see in every post i make? This one is built in 4 pieces and will be bolted together so i can get it in/out of my house.

Well a 14x8 is a good size tank

BUT

I think tigers and flower rays would be the very biggest rays in a tank that size and 4-6 max

The ray in the title of this thread (which I won't even attempt to spell ) is way to big for a 14x8 and to tell the truth they are not even nice looking you can get a much better looking smaller ray
