P. brachyura - anyone lucky enough to have one?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The most I have spent on a ray is 325 euro for one ray in my tank the rest I bred myself

I did pay £800 for a bd male last year and to tell the truth I can justify that kind of money on a ray

You guys in the US pay silly money for rays

I don't think any ray is worth $1500

I am confused you say the most you paid for any ray in your tank is 325. Yet in the same post you say you paid 800 for one. How does that work? Also 800 converted to USD is $1035 so an extra $465 or 360 euros is silly money? Not a big diff in My book.

Who gives a rats arse what you paid for rays . Cheap rays are cheap nice rays are expensive. Just like cars and women and anything else .

That is a simple true way to put it. I don't care how much they are. If I have the money and I want it I get it. Simple as that.

I like the spirit of the OP here, his enthusiasm as well. He is not arrogant like some fish keepers, and he has a thirst for nice fish. Many of the fish keeper here are mere followers, will never venture outside of the box. With that, there will never be any growth in the hobby. Some people will keep a few cichlids for the rest of their lives, and others will find new species to keep and to have.

That's the biggest load of rubbish
No one can tell what a p14 will turn out like

All rays in my litters are are priced the same some turn out better than others but it can take over 18 months to see for sure

I paid £800 once and regretted it if what you say is true that £800 ray should have been stunning but that's not the case some rays I bred myself and sold at £450 was 10 x better

Every ray in my tank I have kept long term I never paid more than £300 before the ban

The bd I paid £800 for was a impulse buy and I regretted it right away and sold it after 2 months

Who cares who has the best looking rays its not a dog show to see who gets best in show

We all spend our money on what we want what some people like others hate like for me I wouldn't pay $10 for a bossani (spelt wrong) but others pay thousands

Its called personal taste if we all had $1500 bd the hobby would be boring

wow, T1 aiming for the projection prize today.....
IF you can't tell what a P14 will look like then its NOT a P14
:)
Leos, Henlii ,Motoros etc etc are ALL named for and identified first by their appearance.....

X2

T1 your p14 are nothing more than common rays these days. IMO they are bottom of the black rays below regular Leo's . And in price too now.
Little pin sized spots are not desired compared to big white spots its just reality. And for $1500 you get a very nice black ray these days.
