Alge on the plants doesn't often look that bad IMO. When its on the glass and you can't see anything its irritating. I have a fake skull that is loaded with plants and moss growing on it that has a serious alge issue but it makes it look a lot more natural. If a fake skull could do that. I just swapped lights one night on mine to get better lighting in my tank. If I would of been thinking I would of waited and turned the new one on the next day but I was over excited about my new toy. I had an epic freak out for the first few days but I think now they don't care. If they do I don't have much sympathy.

How? They stick their hands in. I think you're more concerned about weither or not you can because you believe the P will bite your hand? You'll find that most members here stick their hands in their tanks no different then if they were oscars or goldfishs

Light? Most people say your Ps will get use to them. It's the random action of flipping them on once in a great while that tends to scare them.

not afraid of sticking my hand in there, its the fact of iv never cared for plants really before. im getting this moss in the mail tomorrow, its star moss some say it sucks some say its good, do you recommend using it or have u heard anything on this plant some say it only lives for a couple months what do you think... i wanna get some moss on my rocks is all, does moss spread algae fairly easy?

I don't do plants myself so i can't answer that. For someone whos not afraid to put their hand in the tank you're sure obsessed with algae? I've never seem to really have an algae problem on any of my tanks. Maybe once or twice i've had brown algae creeping up the side but 2 fat snails and a few days later it's gone. My piranha tank has a black background and black substrate and fake plants and i've never noticed algae.

Cuz my LPS is telling me not to much lights and not to much liquid nutriants, my p's are barley an inch big lol not afraid of them, when they get older on the other hand like 12 inches, then we will talk about cleaning lol is it any diff then?

no, no different. lol, seriously, watch. People think piranhas are like MMA fighters....when they're more like WWE wrestlers. Look bad but they're just prima donnas that aren't going to hurt anyone. lol. Don't get me wrong, some people have some aggressive Ps but your shoal will probably always run away from your hands during maintenance.

You're talking like 5-7 years from now before they're 12 inches, i'm sure you'll see what i'm talking about by then.
