boxing may be more relevant worldwide but you're selling mma short here in the u.s. i hear about mma way more then i ever hear about boxing without going to look for either. IMO, boxing WILL go away. we'll see a transition similar to what has happen with baseball and football where mma will be football and boxing becomes baseball

i can name more mma fighters off the top of my head without ordering or watching a single event then i can name relevant boxers with the help of google

not at all bro, i'm very aware of how fast mma's popularity has grown

it's been an unstoppable title wave here in the US

but to say boxing is irrelevent is just plain false. Pac vs Mosely isn't even that huge of a fight but i am 99% sure it will have bigger ppv buys than any mma event in 2011

the numbers don't lie, boxing is still ahead of mma imo

mma fighters make peanuts compared to boxers, of course the majority of boxers dont' make over 6 figures but there are only a handful of mma fighters making a mil or two out of thousands of fighters

the casual fan, like yourself maybe, can name more mma fighters because like i said, those are the fans that don't follow mma or boxing closely

ps...maybe our perception of boxing has do with the fact that it has fallen from grace? it's definetly not what our parents and grandparents witnessed?

my dad told great stories..i find today's state of boxing regardless of the money people are pouring into pay per views disappointing

another 10-20+ years or so i can't say, but for now, boxing ain't dead

boxing was supposed to be dead many times over the last couple of decades but it ain't going no where anytime soon

i don't know about that man, the past 10 years has been awesome for boxing

the fans of today will have plenty to tell their children and grandchildren

it's funny to me that you find it disappointing knowing the ppv buys are so huge. at least you should acknowledge that boxing is still huge just going by the numbers they sell alone regardless of whether you follow boxing closely or not

eh, soccer is huge and draws huge crowds worldwide. easily the most popular sport by the number. nfl/ncaa football dominates tv, blogs, radio air waves etc etc. i still view soccer as irrelevant and football as relevant. i don't see this any different?

maybe i'm just being close minded

what's relevant/irrelevant to you is relevant/irrelevant to you. who's to say otherwise, not me, i won't argue that

but what i'd argue is what's relevant/irrelevant in general which is what it sounded like you and clay was referring to

yeah....what's relevant is what's hot, trendy, popular in my mind. hence why boxing is irrelevant

TV/radio is driven by ratings. if people tune out when they bring it up, they switch topics. i hear more about mma on sports talk then i do boxing. boxing talk is dominated by mayweather/pacquio talk the last few years. some phantom fight that isn't happening?

i view relevance as what's on the tip of people's tongue who AREN'T submerged in said sport/topic
