are red belly pacus different from a black pacus? I always thought they were different from coloring to size.

i think there are several different types of pacu.. the red belly is different then the black pacu... i think the blacks do not grow as big.. but this is just what i heard..nothing i know for certain..

Oh I thought the black pacus grew to be bigger than the red bellies. I ut I really want some but I don't want them if they get tooo big.

I absolutly adore my red belly pacu.I got him from petsmart in June and he was only about two inches, now hes somewhere close to 5-6". Hes currently in a 55 with two tiger oscars but will soon be by himself when the oscar tank (30g) finishes cycling. He is the sweetest fish, a picky eater, and very playful. He mostly keeps to himself unless the oscars are chasing him. Right now hes still eating algae wafers and loves oscar grow. I have a barebottom tank and he vacuums the sinking pellets off the bottom. He is by far my favorite fish. Hes much like a dog in water and hes starting to let me and my husband pet him. We are hoping that by next summer we can either build a pond or large, thick glass tank for him. He is kinda skiddish when it comes to other fish and loud noises so we're hoping he wont break the one hes in before we can build him a bigger one.

:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2to all those beautiful pacus......:D

I love my 2 pacus. A 10'' Black and a 9'' Redbelly. Got them both as a save! They were stock in a 75 with 2 2' ID sharks and a 24'' Silver Arowana. Poor pacus couldn't even swim. Now there shoal like no tommrow!

Do you keep your pacu with your aro? I just moved my black aro to the tank with my pacu, and I have been a little worried that the pacus could be too rough for him. It has been all good so far, but I would like to hear from someone that has this combo.
