That's him in my avatar..chewing on a milk bone...lol

Great pictures and fish.

Sorry for your loss. I lost my 2 blacks Colossoma macropomum and a Colossoma oculus that I had from small and for a long time in 2004. Some people on this site only see them as large unintelligent fish not realizing their fantastic personalities when given the proper sized aquarium.

You really decorate your tank well. Do you still have the other fish in it?

Can not tell without something to measure it against. But it does look very healthy and a good size.
I've seen some huge ones at the Shedd Aq in Chicago.

The biggest accurately measured & caught by rod & reel are 2 in Brazil. I'll try and get a picture of them for you.

Here is one of them (I hope they released it after weighing it etc)

Remember these are not necessarily the world records for a species of fish but are the records that have been accurately verified as being caught sport fishing by Rod & Reel.

English name: Black Pacu

Scientific name: Colossoma macropomum

Method: Sportfishing with rod & reel

Weight: 40 kg (88 lb 3 oz)

Length: over 100 cm (39 inches)

Water: fishing lake Tio Oscar

Country: Brazil

Angler: Mr. Gilberto Chudi Jr.

“Tio Oscar” is a popular, large fishing lake with touristic infrastructure 75 km outside Castelo Branco. Of course not comparable with the wild waters of the Amazon. The lake is well stocked with numerous species and Pacus from 30-40 kg are regularly caught there. Maybe the best water for Black Pacus (Tambaquis) worldwide.

It looks like 2 buddies caught the fish and pretended to have each caught a different fish of exactly the same size & weight to both get onto the record book.

I would say everybit of the 30 inch mark....Had to be upward of around the 40 pound mark.....But thats all eyeball measurement of course..Hard to say when dealing with fish this size.....And especially when it not even yours...
