i think you 75 is going to be over stocked in a few months with that pacu, common pleco and bala shark. pacu get at least 2' (idk if you few that) and bala shark get to about 18" and common pleco get to about 24" aswell therefore a 75 could not house either of these fish

Actually in real life....bala sharks only get to be 12" and common plecos about 16-18" but yes pacus do get 2' and are only recommended for public aquariums....but if you have anything big like 240 gallons possibly a 300 gallon or more this will be minimum for them.Hope this gives a better understanding on the Real info on these guys

Do you like Pacu's?

For some reason it seems like no one likes Pacu's.
I love them..
So what about you?
I've had them, they are eating machines and get so big so fast! If I lived in the south where I could have a pond, I would have a couple. But I live in IL were its burr cold right now, and so I much prefer my Tiger Muskies. I'd love to see pictures of yours tho!

At the Milwaukee zoo they have Pacu's that must be at least 4 ft long and weigh 100lbs

One I take care of. 7 years old.
Very nice fish!

Beatifully done Craig, Congrats

Wow It's a nice setup. Will have to do something similar. One year no water change. That is incredible. The filter must be running well. I would be moving the ones i have over to the 8' by 3' by 3' deep concrete tank next week. Thanks for your info and it is really a great help. Feel more confident now.

Btw i've got to to pacu proof the tank, probably leaving only the barest necessary item. The concrete tank will only be a temporary one while waiting for a larger outdoor pond to be completed. In case anyone is wondering in the climate here is quite similar to the pacu's natural one in the south america continent. so the entire year is either hot or rainy depending on which season it is. Year end here is rain time. Temperature is equatorial & humid all year round. so luckily for me no heater is needed, in fact shade have to be provided from the sun else the water gets too hot.

The current concrete tank is shaded using transluscent pvc screens as to keep out the heavy rains and to reduce the sun heat on the tank. will post some pics later when things are more settled.

Ok here are the tanks for the pacu. The 4 tiers of glass tanks are 4' by 2' by 8" which are used for getting the smaller ones up to size. Next to the glass tank is the concrete tank build into the ground depth is 5' with water level at 3' to avoid any jumpers. The 4 stage DIY glass filter is placed over the concrete tank with a 40W pump. Filter media is Jap Mat with black sponges inserted in between. Water changes once ever 3 months 50%. The pacus are in there now with some Koi, Barbs and 2 plecos. Size of the pacu now is 4-6"

In the Window you can see the reflection of the Town incoming water filter, we call that brand a Rocket over here and the water in to the tanks are filtered through that.. As the water are rather bubbly will have to turn off the pump to get better pics of the fish later.

Over the tanks are the Plastic Roofing to keep out the heat and reduce the intensity of the sunshine..

The concrete tank is now bare without any deco. Hope that should be pacu proof enough. Except for the 2 pumps pipes. one on standby in case of operational failure.
