amazing fish! you look like you are doing a good job raising it - im so very jealous!

How is the paddlefish doing now? It's been a year since the OP has given us any info, I know lots of the things I had assumed about paddlefish from what I had been told have turned out to be misleading.

So far my remaining six paddlefish are doing well, video is up on you-tube, I am 6 months in on my paddlefish, i would love to compare notes.

They are not that tough to feed, try finding Hikari plankton replacement, or one of the other fine sized crumble feeds. I have worked with paddlefish extensively. Raised them from sac fry. Start them on newly hatched artemia, wean them onto fine dry fish feed, a plankton replacement or a trout crumble crushed fine. Must keep the food suspended in water column.

Thats one cool fish! In all my years of growing up and fishing on the Mississippi River in Minnesota i have never caught one of those. Although i did see one surface a few times while i was Bass fishing in the back waters. At first i was like wth was that, then it surfaced again and it made my day getting to see that.

My paddlefish lasted three years, I lost several to aerial predators when I attempted to keep some of them outside but the real problem was moving, they didn't move well and every time i had to move I lost a few of them. The last one i lost three years in, they had turned out to be dwarfs, the biggest one was around 10 or 11 inches long after three years of heavy feeding. They ate small feeder fish like they were going out of style and floating pellets. They were also quite fond of live ghost shrimp and tiny crayfish.

I miss them but it would be crazy to try and keep them again unless i was in a place that i was sure i wouldn't have to move them after they got some size on them, their non dwarf hatch mates were in the 24 to 30 inch range at the end of three years...
