when you look in side the tank you can still see the silicon along the edges, its minor but you can notice it. im thinking of applying a thin layer of silicon and put sand on top of it so it wont wash away after it dries. it will only be on the seams and the rest will be painted sand texture underneath. any thoughts?

i have not had any luck with sand on silicone it always comes off it may last a while but sooner or later it just looks bad.

do us a favor and snap some shots when your finished. id love to see what you came up with!

Yeah no problem. I planned too anyway.

The rust-oleum paint is the stuff I used ( 7994830 - Sienna Stone, to be exact). When people look at my tanks, they think it's sand until they look closer and see the silicone in the corners. They have been set up for about 6 months now, and I still like the look. I painted 2-3 coats of the textured stuff, and then 2-3 coats of regular black paint to fill in any spots where the textured stuff wasn't very thick.

I got delayed on my 125 due to a broken seal, but i just used the stuff on my 55. Looks awesome. Pics tomorrow.

Pics?

Sorry for the delay guys. Got caught up with school and stuff. Here's some pics of my 55 that I painted.
