The rocky texture won't really be noticable once it is black. Being all black will hide the depth so you won't see the texture much. - Don't let the wife read that LOL

Id rather avoid spraying. The mist is sure to get on the surface doubt i'll have time to properly tape the thingKrylon fusion spray paint for plastics is fine

I wouldnt spray it myself. I honestly dont know what your background is made of but even if its plastic the krylon will eventually start to come off. Black pond sheild osnt going anywhere. Plus over spray will not be possible.
