Pale, Gasping Black Arowana

Hey Rally sorry to read about your black, have your noticed any white stringy fecies this usually is common with internal parasites. Also saw the same eroding of the fins with internal parasites. This to could be why the other fish in the tank are not effected. I know alot of people have been suggesting lowering the temp, but with a w/d it seems to me the water would be oxygenated enough, plus you would see signs from the other fish if oxygen was low.

Treating internals parasites can be done with Metronidazole for flagellates and Prazipro is good for external parasites but will work for internal tapeworm.
Also high temperature 85 degrees plus. Unfortunately all my parasite dealings have been with discus, but I would imagine there is some similarities with your Black aro

Good luck with this, the link below is where I've have gotten the meds to treat my fish.

at the stage his aro is in if it is a parasite, temp is really not an issue but your right about the O2 being plentiful. As a last resort you might try forcing some of the above meds into his mouth. I would soak brine shrimp in it and force feed him with a syring. if he's head standing though it's getting to his swimbladder which is VERY hard to correct.

I learned to watch for signs of parasites with my perch, but this guy never showed anything abnormal.

Sorry it's belated, still don't know how I missed this, my deepest condolences. In your picture, the fish just doesn't look right. I've seen your pics of your fish quite a few times, I can see a drastic difference. It must have been internal. You're in the top 1% of good Arowana keeper3 I know, so I hope you don't even think about blaming yourself. What a shame, so sorry man-

Thanks mei, I think he bled to death internally for 2 reasons:
1. the color loss
2. He had blood coming out of him when we pulled him from the tank
