Paroon Shark: Update

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Another Update: he's pushing about 6 inches. He's strictly eating just massivore. He's gaining a lot of weight.
For future plans: what do you think of housing? I have some ideas in my head... Index pool? Building homemade indoor pond? There's no real tank that can really hold this guy for life.
Thanks
Josh

Looking good,an Intex pool would be the cheapest and fastest route. You have some time to look into some kind of build too.

Heres another update on my paroon shark.
Hes about 8 inches or so now, pounding massivore, talipia, and shrimp.
He's gaining weight...
I moved him from the 55 gallon to the 150.. At first he wasn't eating and very skittish and scared.
After a week he started to start pounding food as usual and started to learn where he was and his new home.

heres an update video of him!
enjoy

You CAN build a tank that will hold him for life. It's just going to have to be BIG. The more current the better. These are river fish. Less problems with a lot of rushing water. Less problems with your fish I mean ;) Everyone talks about building an indoor pond. While extremely commendable, what about an indoor river!! That would be pretty sweet imo. I love your shark by the way he looks fat and happy.

Hello,
I've moved my paroon shark to a nice bigger tank..(temporarily ) and I know paroons like to starve themselves and not eat for awhile.. He usually pounds shrimp and talipia. But hasn't touched anything yet, it's been about 3 days. Should I be worried yet? Or when should I start worrying? Any ideas?

I wouldn't worry as long as the new digs has a mature filter and the water parameters are in check. He should go back to eating after a few days of settling in.

Why the rush?

Unless there's a purpose to bulking the paroon up, why not just let it grow in regular increments? That way you will have time to build that massive tank of yours.

I was thinking he may have other fish to house it with that may be big enough to eat it right now.
