Parrot hybrid, what do you guys think.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have heard this conversation before, and have heard they are just short body cons. The fact that Spizz agrees is proof enough for me. :D (come on guys, he's a con and bp nut) Just because something has a spinal deformation does not make it a bp cross. It is not a bp-only thing.

Thanks man. Coming from you, that means a lot to me.

Re read the original post. The seller told him they were hybrids bro. A convict x BP is a jellybean parrot. Thats what the lfs around here call them at least. I don't know what the fish will breed with to be honest but I figured they would be a pretty aggressive fish having convict in them... Might be nice right now but it may turn on you. lol. The fish is more than likely 1st gen if the seller told you the cross.

They mis informed you bro. All rumors.

that explains why the jellybeans stay so small. i have seen pink con X bp and it was orange and bigger than a jelly bean. it didn't have the "beak" of the blood parrot either.
BTW i saw in the JD tank at petsmart a short bodied jd. it was like a balloon with fins and pearls. i almost bought it. i wish i had.

Convict x BP makes a terribly drab fish. The fish, that people say, are jelly beans, are just short pink cons. There are NO Con x BP's flooding the market. Like I said. It produces a quite un attractive fish....Go to the BP forum and read up on jelly beans....
I don't agree. I have 2 lfs that sell Pink convict x BP and they both call them jellybean parrots. Both of these stores breed them personally. Call it what you want but in PA this is a common fish.

i forgot to answer how you sex them. it is easy. the females have a red belly. it gets very red at breeding time. the males are a little bigger and get a nuchal hump fairly young. mine got his hump at 1.5 inches

Grab some pics of what they breed and call jelly bean....The fish in post#1 is 100% short pink convict...BP fry (that I have seen) ALL have flower lines, NONE are pink.
