yes, her wings are clipped but even with a hurricane, I do not think she could fly far...

She was acting like she wanted to fly though so i did hold her up on my arm and run and she flapped her wings and at one point jumped but only got a few feet before crash landing on the grass. I did feel bad for her though.

Cool hibrid macaw but in the 3 last pics there is some kind of bipedal mammal handling your bird...I woudnt allow that:D

Sweet macaw just keep her out of the viper enclosure. Hmm, dont know which I would rather have viper or macaw, both. Anyway very cool and good luck.

Great looking macaw is that also called a "military" macaw?

it is a hybrid military x blue/gold macaw

thanks for the comments everyone!

Welcome to the world of miligold macaws! They are really fantastic birds but they sure are high maintance birds as I am sure you have already found out. Maya really is a beautiful girl. A few things that I would recommend even though she is clipped you need to still have her restrained. They can get in an updraft and it can be tragic and you also have to be aware of predators around you. I would recommend an aviator harness it a very good investment. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions, Congrstulstions on your new baby!

thank you for the compliments!

I assure you that no gust of wind would have been strong enough that day to get her off the ground but I think I am going to try to let her flight feathers grow back so that I can train her for some free flight but that will be way down the road since there is much she has to learn before that.

I did get her to do two "tricks" (for lack of a better word) this weekend. she will now spread her wings out and hold them there which is nice for show and will be helpful during examinations or if I do clip her wings again and she will now lay upside-down in my hands too

Logo, how much do you feed yours? I have read that they are supposed to eat something like twice their body weight but she might eat one full bowl despite it being constantly offered to her. I am feeding her about 1/2 commercial bird seeds, and 1/2 fruits and vegies and she seems to like everything i give her but she does not eat as much as she is supposed to. Should I be worried?
