Patio Pond - Mom Wants One - Potential stocking and building?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks all! I would like to do some colorful fish you can see from the top. In winter, it can drop down to upper 40’s. In summer, it can go as high as 100 degrees.

What's important is the water temperature, not air temperature. The dry & warmer air temperature can easily keep the tank at 84-86F water temperature for 1-2 months with an air temperature of 100F. We have medaka (rice fish) now in SD. They do fine from 37f to 100F water temperature.

Time for you to go to Aquarium Fish Depot. A bit more expensive than barbs

What was your water temperature? I've never been able to keep them long in 86F water temperature (98F air temperature) in a small 20g tank or pot type.
Unsure. I didn't bother measuring the water temperature.

Re: clown killis, those'll jump. So be careful.

I suggest mosquitofish or white clouds, both are very hardy and temp resistant
I would not keep them both at the same time though
any poeciliidae type thing or cyprinid would be good, they all stay mid to top of the pond

How about rosy reds? Pretty temperature tolerant + good colors + cheap.
