At that size I would not mess with the dead food. As said before he will more than likely starve himself. Waith till he gets 5-6". I fought my Armatus for a month with fishing line, trying to cut pieces that looked like fish, making it move like a fish, etc. and he would never bite for me. I traded him off, JD got him off live, and I have him back LOL. The food has to move for them to attack it. You cannot just hang it in there. Plus I hear if another fish in there eats dead it sometimes helps them learn. It will take a lot of patience. He will be on guppies for a while. I would go grab a couple 10 gallon tanks from walmart ($10) and set up a quarantine system if you value his life.

This weekend I'm going to set up my 30 gallon and get a couple convicts so I can breed them as food. And yeah I'm gonna wait a while before getting him onto dead food.
Oh and by the way I picked up 2 more today from pets unlimited.

Here is another shot. The pet store has some small convicts and baby jaguars, would you think either of those would work as tankmates ?

I would never put mine with a convict and I have not owned a jag, but I wouldnt.

I think its a scomb, but hope its an armatus.
