Pbass not 'true' cichlids?

Maybe 1 of the resident Pbass masters like Diesel or R1 will chime in. I for 1 would like to know.
Regardless of the outcome, PBass are still 1 of my favorite types of fish.

From all that I would gather that they are a cichlid.
They are not a Bass, as also small mouth and large mouth are not Bass, they are sunfish. True Bass are ocean bass and their evolutionary offspring freshwater White and Yellow Bass.

From what i understood, the Pbass wasn't a cichlid (actually pretty sure i read that on the boards when an argument arose about the placement of the Pbass subforums)
BUT... i did a quick Google, and i stand corrected, and they infact are a cichlid, just one heavily evolved to hunt fish. My bad.

Thanks for the responses. This was interesting because PBass are so different from other cichlids. I knew they weren't bass and from that I thought the original statement might hold water as well. If anyone knows any different info please post. thnx
pbass are infact true cichlids...
but i personally dont see them as cichlids.
