Pbass not 'true' cichlids?

i think you guys should leave this stuff to people who are qualified, pbass are cichlids look at vieja and parachromis they dont look similar at all they are both cichlids, it doesnt all boil down to the appearance theres a lot more to it

I also agree with this point. but this does make for good discussion. I do believe that they are Cichlids period just as the Emperior Cichlid just far from the ordinary evolutionarie blue print. I keep a lot of the fish in this discussion and all have there own special attributes from the process of time and addaptiation. There all top in there on right I mean look at the Convicts in comparison to the Dovii. Still a King in there on right. Cichla still reamin a mystery as do all the cichlid family and thats why we all keep them to unlock the mysterys of the these ancient beauty's that are still evolving right before our eye's!

They are cichlids deffo, what else would they be?

I never had a doubt they weren't real cichlids until I read that post. Then it got me thinking there just might be something to it. It's cool how they're so simalar to LMB.
