Nice thread, guys. I'm being sarcastic, of course.

To the OP, you can grow out a pair of pbass in a 180 but once they hit the 12" range, you'll find the 180 to be too small for then to thrive. They swim fast and hard and like lots of space. Now if you decide you want to sell them at that size, that's cool so long as you do a good job growing them out and you're prepared to let them go cheap. There are not a lot of guys around who will have space for 12+ pbass.

The other thing I want you to consider is how much they eat and as a result, how much tank maintenance is required. Pbass are fast growing big-stomach predators with huge appetites. If you don't have max filtration and aren't prepared to spend the money on food, they will be stunted, develop pits all over their heads and look awful.

I'm not sure pbass is the best pick for you.

Thank you for the good advice. I started this thread to get a little info on pbass. Like swimiming habbits, eating habbits and so on. The 180 has 2 fx5's so filtration is not a problem. The problem of this thread is 1.) Since we're reading text, we can't associate emotions and body language along with statements. 2) It sort of started out like a pissing contest!

No worries. We're back on track. ;)

And just FYI, I have an 8x3 tank and it is soooooooooooooooo much nicer than a 6x2. If you plan to keep larger fish, don't wait too long to upgrade. :)

The whole thing is with Pbass guys and alot of other prediter type fish You must be willing to spend the time cleaning up after them It is a comitment !!!!!I also have 4 dogs for instance one is a chiwawa one a great dane and two australian sheperds ....And of coarse The dane by FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR...When acting up or just normal activity is MUch Much more work for god sakes one poop fills a shovel and the chi well a month of poop probably would not fill a shovel ...So if you think it's just fun and games taking care of these guys this goes for anybody icluding myself we are sadly mistaken ..If you don't plan to take care of an animal than don't get it Plain and simple:DOh and i know i spelled chiwawa wrong i'm tired and for the life of me can't remember how to spell it right now...

Thanks alot. I'm not new to messy cichlids. My 150 is full of them. My typical water change schedule is wed/sun or tues/sat at 40%. I am a fan of overstocked tanks mainly because I have the filtration to back it up. I don't like the look of having a 24" fish in a 24"w tank, or 18" fish in 18"w tank. Especially if they're flyin all over the tank.

well i don't know if they would always be flying all over but they are fast and powerful and need space and plenty of it yhey kick back most times but when they get rowdy you know it !!!The best explanation to give for how these guys act when fooling around is a group of grade school boys running around starting trouble witch just brings a smile to my face i love it :headbang2:headbang2They probly are not for everybody ... Heck there are tons of varieties with CA and SA.Like i say i don't know if they would be flyen around the tank but i have heard plenty of times of these guys smashing the glass not intintionaly and later dieing. So ultimatly the choice is yours ;)
