How about wide bar (Mylesus Schomburgkii) silver dollars with kelberi peacock bass long term
Yes silver dollars are a good choice for tank mates/dither fish. just make sure they big enuff so the bass dont eat them.

My bass is around 6-8" maybe what size silver dollar would you say would be safe to add?
Any idea on SD growth rates, fast / slow?

Peacock bass growth rate will greatly surpass any geophagus growing out as young. A geophagus that maybe able to co-exist is the surineminis (think I spelt it right lol) as they get to a foot in length and best to get a group of them. These geos won't be looked at as food due to the size and they are slow growers.
This will also need to be a pretty big tank.

Since you have a good size tank, it would make sense to start with good size (young adult) silver dollars. In that manner, your 6-8”pbsss would be unlikely to eat them. Particularly since the pbsss is already in the tank.
In your other post you spoke of wide bar dollars. Here you just talk about SDs. Wide bars get much Larger and heftier than smaller SDs, such as Metynnis spp.

Regarding SD growth rates (all of them) - Relatively fast at first, then quite slow, and mostly in heft, not actual size. By the end of their third-fourth year they would have reached somewhere close to full size, and would slow down. And they can live several decades!!! If in good conditions.

I have not kept pbsss but I know the size of prey they will attempt to eat. Thus, I suggest large dollars, or be prepared to loose them, and potentially loose the bass who tried to eat too large a dollar. Also, dollars like to live in groups, otherwise will be very shy.
Good luck, and please post pictures!

I live close to predatory fins, the largest SD he has are 3-4" wide bars, I also like the look better on the bared SDs.
My concern is will my PB outgrow them and end up eating or attempting to eat them. There is another LFS by me that has some slightly larger red hook SD also but I def prefer the wide bars look and rather deal with predatory fins over this other shop.

I can’t say for sure, but I would wagger that 3-4” dollars would be at high risk with the 8” bass. And the pbass grows much faster…..
