Pearls on the Rise

recently I've noticed that pearl prices have been on the rise. For the first time I can think of pearls are equal to or are now fetching a higher price then black diamonds. Interesting how times and the market has changed. Seems there's a lot of interest in BDxPearl pups now. Anyone else noticing any changes in the market?

I have noticed at least by me that blacks ie bd's, leos, and henlies are going down in price. I have also been seeing the prices of hybrids rise. And yes pearls.

More pearls are being imported now and they are steadily available from Asia now. Alot of them are not great quality though. But they are better than anything that was being bred here before. High end pearls can fetch as much or more than any grade Black Diamonds. Hybrid BD's are now more than pures in alot if cases. Although some of the pure breeders don't want to hear that or don't want to accept it. People are willing to pay it so breeders are making it happen. Majority of the black rays you see in Asia are all hybrids. Some black hybrids in Asia are going for 60k...

Fish that are appealing to the eye will always fetch a higher price. Period.

Seen some nice Asian Pearls for 1500 a pair so not BD prices. And pure Hen prices havent moved in years. In fact quality Hens and big spot Hen prices are on the rise. :-D

And as for as Hybrids. Sure see a lot of junk coming in. A few keepers here and there. Lot of people bringing hybrids in sitting on them because they arent selling or overpriced.

We will always get Asia's rejects. Alot of whats coming in is just that. They know they can move them here cheap. Some people just don't understand the nice hybrids are crazy expensive. Some people just bring in whatever they can while others work with exporter and take the time to pick the best of the best. Also sometimes the best stuff isn't offered to everyone. Loyalty goes a long way. The loyal customers get first pic always.

Really? Well here in Europe nobody wants to boy Pearls at all. I know a few breeders (and really good breeders) who have taken their males out for over half a year now and don't want to let their males breed with their females, simply because they can't find anyone to buy their pups anymore and they don't want to sell them for 100 bucks.
