My convict pair bred 3 days after I introduced them to the tank. Now their 1 inch fry are endless entertainment for my oscars...since I have holey rocks in the tank, they are fairly safe; although oscars would pick off one or two evey now and then.

love them! got my first female as a rescue missing her tail(cute as ever)
and got her a male a few weeks agoe...21 days later
I have never kept cichlids before these guys are awesome my female is so pretty! ill have to get update shots of mom and dad
Edit: my female is aggressive and after laying eggs she beat the male up to keep him away, until they were free swimming, they are alone in a 20 gallon and fry are intended as feeders.

I want to get a male,but there would be a world war 3 in my tank,with the salvini,green terror,texas,firemouth,jack dempsey,and severum.
I had a 4" green terror in a tank with a 3.5" convict i heard some spashing over night while I was sleep when I woke up the green terror didnt have a face..
Well,the black convict apparently tried to challenge my 6 inch Jack Dempsey,that didn't fly too well for the convict,she went hiding right away.
