The "training" is probably questionable too...with an animal like this. Like in the circus...those dangerous animals don't perform willingly without fear for their trainers.

Hey, I wouldn't cuddle with my stingrays or my lionfish either but I still love them as pets. If you can properly care for an animal and keep it healthy then why not?

My friend is into snakes and keeps one at his place in the teacherage (housing provided for teachers by a school). You should of heard the complaints from the other teachers in nearby residences about it, completely irrational fears (what if it got out? aren't they venemous? will it eat my pet cat?). He takes good care of his snake and seems to really enjoy having it as a pet.

So why not, different strokes for different folks.

That's true, there are many look but don't touch pets (like, let me think....fish!). As long as they are properly house and cared for, I don't see why people shouldn't keep them. Now parading around with baboons and hyenas on chains with muzzles...that's something else entirely...

I would have never thought that a hyena would protect kids nor anyone at all.
Know they are more related to mongoose just never imagined them as protective at all would have thought dangerous and unpredictable.
well without a pack the hyena kind of assumes a "pack" witht he kids as they always played with them. He never hurt them, as animals can sense infants I presume but from time to time he would nip one of the kids. Never drew blood just left a little bruise. Funny to see a 6-7 year old turn around and smack a full grown hyena on the snout and then for the hyena to stop, look at him with an expression that resembled, " Geez I was only playing bro."

well they are not stronger than lions
but if lions and hyenas were the same size hyenas would be alot stronger

I am sorry but this is true for most animals even ants, leopards and many others.

The movie eternal enemies is what started my love for hyenas and then getting to play with one was fantastic. If i remember correctly the two brother lions were called "Intwandamela-The roar that thunders" and "Mandevu- The maned or bearded one." It also delved quite abit into the hyena matriachal structure with the baby "Princess".

I dont like to see someone made the wild animals out as their pets, especially the spotted hyenas with high kill rates. Hyenas dont fear the humans as its not uncommon for them attacking humans. My grandma help out some people in Africa for a month and she took a picture of poor man whose his lips ripped off by a hyena and she show me why hyena are not good pets. Trust me you dont want see that picture. I think we should leave these hyenas and other wild mammals alone in their nature.

Return all of your pets then. Including your fish.
