The hyena used to run into a hessian sack and then we would spin him around, heavy as hell so never made a full rotation even. More times than not we would wind up on our faces after he ran into the sack. They used to leave the doors open at night because if it wanted to get into the house it would just jump through a window without hesitating. It used to love getting in to the bath if someone was bathing.
Definately not a pet for someone who is not 110% dedicated and has ample space, especially if they are one their own. Some go insane in zoos due to lack of companionship or space as they are pack animals.
I would have never thought that a hyena would protect kids nor anyone at all.
Know they are more related to mongoose just never imagined them as protective at all would have thought dangerous and unpredictable.
