Something else that comes to mind . . . if you don't like the way people advertise the items they are selling on this website . . . DO NOT GO SHOPPING, that way you will not be wasting your time.

Is that why you have no marketplace feedback? Just asking... :chillpill:

have an uncle that just lets them out when ever/where ever they come up (down?). lol
ie: as we walked into a restaurant, he held the door open for a lady to come out, as she's walking through the door, he lets one RIP. Not a small/silent one, a RIPPING one. you know what I'm talking about. WTF does that make me???? lol

Even if someone's phone doesn't have a camera, I can guarantee you their friends, family, coworkers, dog groomer, post man, and 99 year old grandma has one on their phone. Ask them to take a picture and email it to you. If you happen to not have email as well, you should not be selling anything online.

While spelling isn't something I pay much attention to, I can see why it bothers others. Spelling mistakes on an online forum these days is pure laziness and ignorance simply because there are spell checks for nearly every browser out there. I'm a great speller, but if I do misspell something, my browser underlines it in red and makes suggestions. Even if you are a horrible speller, there really is no reason to not make the effort to correct and learn from those mistakes given the tools at your disposal. I agree it is a fish site and fish should be the focus, not spelling, but it is also a written format. It's a bit like calling somewhere, requesting a Spanish translator and insisting on speaking English.

Anyhow, on to my OWN pet peeves...

Abbreviations. Don't even get me started on people who use "u" in place of "you".

Fish snobs - people who judge a persons apparent worthiness to own fish based on if they have live plants (um, many large fish destroy live plants as fast as I can put them in the tank) or if they use "fake" decor. Not everyone is going to share your apparently ultra enlightened sense of taste. :screwy: Commenting negatively on someone else's taste just makes you look like a donkeys butt.

People who speed or don't use their blinkers should be shot on site.

Men cleaning a woman's bathroom (or vice versa) when there are 400 female employees in the building.

Chewing gum and tongue piercings (I am deaf and read lips...both things make your speech nearly impossible to read)

I'm crabby today. Crabby people happen to be a pet peeve as well. I am my own pet peeve. Wonderful.

I think it makes you a judge.;)

I have to disagree somewhat. Here's why: buying a phone with a camera does not put more money into the pocket of the service provider. They make money off the phone's calling plan. They actually LOSE money sometimes with phones by paying for the equipment on behalf of the user. Do you really think they pay less than FREE for the device? :screwy:

I use the heck out of my phone's camera. I thought it was INGENIOUS when they starting coming out with camera phones back in 2003. When I was stationed in Japan, I had a color capable cell phone before anyone in the US even considered it (cost). Is having color pixels "materialistic" and "nonutilitarian"? I think not.

Almost all of my friends carry a point-and-shoot camera... either in the car... or in their purse (ladies). Because guys don't normally carry purses (some do!), the camera on the phone serves GREAT purpose. My friend borrowed my camera about a year and half ago... he still hasn't returned it. lol I've relied on my phone's camera during this time. Its not the best quality but it gets the job done. Yes, this includes selling items online. It has been a HUGE difference in being able to sell something to someone several states away. Heck, I even take videos of my fish eating and breeding.

I also rely on my cell phone as my ONLY phone. Why do I need a landline? I'm hardly ever home. It serves the same purpose and I don't have to go running through the house to pick up a call, its right on my hip! The "purpose" of an invention does not LIMIT what its potential is.

Your argument is quite flawed... even while using big words. sorry.

John: I do agree that yes, my argument is somewhat flawed. I'm happy you have found that cell phone camera works well for you. But not everyone has that luxury of being able to own or have access to one. I believe that phone cameras are more of a personal preference than most other reasons. Yes I do agree a person may use them alot, as in your particular case. But it does not justify Jessica's statement that "everyone" has one.

You asked, "Why do I need a landline"? There could be a variety of reasons.

1] If you are a business owner and you do not want to be disturbed at home with business calls, you would logically have a landline for nonbusiness related calls.

2] Having a landline at your place of business for customer calls is benneficial.

3] Having a landline at your place of business to communicate with your employees if you happen to be away from your place of business, helps a lot.

4] Being married, away from home, and you want or need to call a member of your immediate family.

5] Having a calling plan on your landline, that includes free long distance -anytime - 7/24/365, anywhere in the U.S., with additional free internet HSDSL service.

These are just a few examples. But my main point I was trying to stress is that not "everyone" has access to or owns a camera phone. Some people find them beneficial, others do not. It is all a matter of preference.

Agreed!

Don't most professionals have a business cell phone too? One that gets their office/location calls forwarded? I do... Turn that sucker off when you don't want to be bothered... just like my personal phone. lol I don't allow my cell phones to be a leash... if I don't want, or can't, pick up a call, I don't! I'm not the type (this may be a peeve!) of person that will pick up EVERY call no matter where I am.

I think a cell phone serves both of these purposes better than a landline. Maybe not the free high-speed internet... but that's because that's not offered her... lol

I'm not trying to pick a fight, just pushing healthy debate. It seems as though our culture has begun resisting healthy confrontation when its actually not a bad thing. :grinno:

not having a land line is creating problems related to 911 though.

If I am hurt and cannot talk, but can reach over and dial 911 on my landline, the address is traced automatically and help can come.

if I did the same on a cell phone they cannot trace an address and I am screwed.

so having a landline is a good thing. it can be the difference between life and death sometimes. there have been a few news reports in the media over the last few years about this problem.

its a problem that has resulted from the wide spread use of cell phones.

many 911 calls these days are placed on them.
