OK OK OK i have been keeping fish for over 30 yrs on and off I'm pretty good with the knowledge of whats what and what can make it with other fish....
I have this guy in his early 20's that every time i go to the pet smart he makes me feel like I'm dumb....Example i wanted to buy a African that looked to me to be in bad health figure i will give it a better shot then he is getting here.
This jerk and its not the first time he says stuff like why Africans????Its not my first choice but what ever floats your boat i guess.....

2nd example....
My daughter has a 2 gal tank with two guppies and a ghost shrimp well she was starting to loose a little interest in the tank so she wanted a 2nd ghost shrimp 33 cents and the guy would not sell it to me cause her little tank has no salt come on man are you kidding me????????

Has anyone else had this issue?????
 
Ask to see management, but honestly this is what all petsmart folks are like.

I was with a friend who was buying a biocube at petsmart. some guy came up and my friend was asking him questions. I just kept quiet to see what he would say. He told him to buy the stealth heater(the one that blows up) because its the "best one out there". I told the guy at petsmart that it is actually on recall and is a potential hazard. He gave me a glassed over look.
ANYWAY, its basically how all the people are at petsmart, you just gotta deal with it.

It kind of sucks cause when i was a young man i worked in a few small pet shops and man i made dam sure i knew what i was talking about and the info i gave out was as correct as it could be...I never was rude to a customer i would start conversation about his or her tank and what was in it if i felt that the fish would be wrong for the tank i would recommend a alternative but never insult someone...

Manahawkin nj.....Its the last time i will bother spending my money at that place i will direct my hard earned cash to the smaller mom and pop shops.
 
Ive had the same issue. For example when I was trying to buy some moss for my leopard geckos humid hide, I was asked if I knew they were desert reptiles. Really, they have enough geckos that they should know about shedding.
 
At Petco I asked ,"how can I tell male from a female JD?" The lady says - "oh, let me see once,.....(walks over to their JD tank)..I'm pretty sure it has to do with their front fins, the ones they stear with..............If they are more rounded or shorter, then they're female..........hhmmmm, that's real weird, they're all swimming around with their fins and that all pulled up ? huh,?"I just said "ok, thanks," and walked away! ***I wonder if she even realized they were all sick!:( Not to mention she new nothing about how to tell male and female apart.:screwy:
 
this guy seems like a total jerk if someone i would try and listen to someone who knows more then me not put them down thats just not right
 
should of showed um up! i do that a lot when im at any store that sells fishes, if they dont know anything, educate um hahaha, i love looking at their faces after
