Petco guys

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not every Walmart, Petco, or Petsmart doesn't care for their fish. Depends on the employees that work there.

Thanks... There's a guy at my Petco named Eric and if he's not there I just don't buy anything I don't already know much about because he can give me the lowdown on compatibility and care for any species in stock.

Sucks.. one of my favorite lfs's that I traded and sold fish to all the time shut down last year. I don't like my petsmart but do go to petsupermarket. The staff over there actually know what they're talking about.

EXACTLY! the petsupermarket here in cary is great! It seems like their staff are members of MFK! they know their fish, and they sell some rare fish, including monsters!

Well, im 13 and think when im old enough, petco or petsmart would be a great place for me to work. i would be strictly fish oriented so people could know how to care for what they are buying!

Agreed, it has nothing to do with age. You could be 12 and be an expert keeper if your dedicated enough.

Exactly I might be turning 13 in 2 days but when I go to petco or petsmart I know more than the fish ppl only place they know a little more than me is pet supermarket

Petsmarts, petco's, and walmarts... :(

It is sad to go there. The petsmart near me is clean but the people working there don't know a apple snail from a zebra cichlid...

The best chain store I've been to was a meijer, I went there when I was on vacation and we needed groceries and the tanks were very clean, and surprisingly not overstocked!

I'm pretty lucky in Canada as I've got Big Al's aquarium store. You know they can keep fish when they have about 100 tanks plus a reef(?) shark tank in every store. of course they are fairly expensive. a adolescent Discus is about 50$ minimum. I normally go to PJ's pets as they are a lot cheaper, 20$ for a juvenile discus. Staff are a little less knowledgeable, but remember they are often minimum wage workers.
