My fish training at petco: "the fish department is at the left back corner of the store, see ya"

I disagree. They don't hire idiots. The problem is you can't expect them to be fish nerds like most of us here. The people many stores hire are just not fishkeepers most of the time. And obviously, most serious fishkeepers are not going to work at a petsmart for $7 an hour just for the love of fish.

This person may be referring to "idiots" as the employees that take the misinformation and run with it. Actually arguing, and standing by their limited knowledge is the problem. It is more noticeable at petsmart as they seem to "care" more there. They tend not to be open to a customer setting them straight on something.

well said !
this is exactly what ive been getting at in the last few posts !
they arnt open to discuss anything and all they say is no no no and never listen ! :wall:
how can you lay down such rules if they dont have any knowlege in the first place ??

duncan33-first off what in god's green earth are you talking about?
Second, not all employees there are ignorant in defense I have met a few that knew atleast the basics of how to take care of fish.

matt123-awesome point which goes back to what I said-they know the basics so when someone like myself tries to buy Balas or T-Barbs with a GT they argue with you-but I think if your tactful and explain why it would work, 99% of the time you'll get the fish-dont lie like some say-tell the truth and explain why that combo of fish would work.

You could have just said they where going in different tanks. Be prepaired to lie, as they are idiots in that shop.

lol after reading the post I was thinking same thing. Why not say 2 diff tanks .

I think they have co rules and employees don't have option of letting buyer mix fish.

I never buy from local chain places anyway but I don't fault the employee.

I agree tough crowd lol.
Simply saying you have diff tanks or returning in an old lady costume to get the other fish is easy enough .
