Most of the Petcos and Petsmarts in my area ask you 101 questions before giving you a fish. It is quite irritating. They ask you all these questions about your tank, and then decide if you are going to get the fish based off their horribly inaccurate "company training". All this for fish sitting in their ammonia bath, peppered with ich.

Probably the most accurate thing ive read on here for weeks. Happens to me all the time, they are terrible. It's called pets at home here (same chain).

Wallmart is called Asda in scotland:ROFL:

well i made a weak effort to do that.. i said that the tank is big, gt's arent that much more aggressive, the bala shark is a fast grower/swimmer...but she just looked at me like i was stupid

Bala shark is not a fast grower, no.

gotta love employees at big chain pet stores sometimes  best part: after i finish telling the employee all the fish i have in my tank, he/she starts trying to calculate if i can get more fish based on the "1 inch per gallon" rule. classic

its funny all you guys keep having bad experiences at petsmart, last time i went there they were renovating their tanks and the manager let me and my gf pick out like 150 $$ worth of structure (caves, etc), i couldn't believe it, it was sweet. of course i went home and washed the crap out of it all but that was still very sweet

the managers are the ones who "normally" arent idiots, i dont even waist my time with reg employees unless im correcting them lol

I should probly stay out of this but I work at a petsmart and the reason that we can deny sales is because of the return policy.

We get stupid idiots who are "guppy breeders" so they "know what they are doing" when it comes to cichlids (which a lot of people call chinchillas haha) but they return dead fish that other fish kill every single day. Without knowing what the customer actually knows . . . but a lot of times if the customer is really pushy and mean (which a lot of them are) we just have the checker right no return on the bag.

Trust me being in a store like that you get a lot of idiots . . .

I had to deny a sale of an oscar a few months ago cuz the lady wanted to put him in a 1.5 gallon betta tank! LMAO

I hate it when you have to lie to people because "they know best", but in reality they have to do it to protect themselves from idiots. Walmart REFUSED to put a tire on a rim for me because my truck was labeled for 1 size smaller in their database.

"Oh.. Its not for this truck, its for my other truck"

"Oh, never mind sir, it will be ready in 10 minutes"

Its dumb, but if they didn't protect themselves, you would have lawsuits

They did that with me.. a couple years ago I was picking up a Syno. eupterus to use as a bottom feeder in my cichlid tank and i was just chatting with the lady. She asked what else was in the tank and I said an Oscar, then she put the cat back. I was like.. ummmm.. So after talking to the manager I got the cat but had to sign a waiver saying they did not have to take the fish back if it died since the Oscar would definitely kill it. It's a bunch of crap but I didn't care.. I knew more then they did about compatibility and it all worked out.
WOW! Thats just mean! She's luck she didn't do that to me I would off put her in her place.:screwy::naughty:
