how are the ones complaining more ignorant? assuming all the stories are true, that's not the case

and a lot did point out that they know it's not ALL petsmart employees

Read the OP's first post and there you go. Im not trying to call out any of the people who said its not all employee's.

See, I don't think that either. There is a pet smart near my house and everyone is very well trained to answer your questions whether they know the answer or not. A lot of tge employees know more then i do anyway. However, it does seem that this same old story happens too often

at least TS did say this

OP just jump the ship when he felt the heat :D

I was at work but ya sure we can call it jumping ship. If I knew everyone would get bent out of shape I would have kept it to myself. As I have said before, there are a lot of petsmart employees who are great. But there is also the ones that you look at and think "how do they get paid to be this wrong." I'm not trying to insult anyone. If you work at petsmart and are a member of this site, that's great. You are passionate about your job/hobby. Now go share a link to your co-workers and tell them to research am animal before arguing with a customer. I don't care if an employee flat out tells me "I have no clue about that fish." that's fine, but when an employee argues with me that a ID shark with stay under 2 feet. How can I not say something?

Dude that where all the people who didn't go to middleschool work.

It's my personal thought that every human needs to work retail at some point in their life. And not just hourly, but commission based. That way if you fail to learn something about what you are selling you don't get to eat or pay your bills.

That being said, I worked retail at different levels for over 25 years and you know what? No one working a retail job can be experts on everything in a modern big box retail store. They are bounced around from department to department, task to task. Everything from fish care, small animals, mopping the bathrooms, resetting merchandise, running the registers, stocking etc. Few stay long enough to become experts at many. And still there are customers who expect that each employee no matter how green have full knowledge of an inventory that often exceeds 20,000 sku's.

I really don't want to be argued with by an employee that I think doesn't know much either and it is wrong for them to do so. But did they start it? Who asked for the advice and then pushed it further? Trust me, no one likes to be told they are wrong and no one likes a know-it-all. If they are truly wrong and you know it, why would you engage them beyond that? But if you choose to shop where the selection is large and you don't want to overpay for the one stop shop convenience be it for your fish, dog, cat or hamster you have to expect that you are not going to get an expert every time.

It is your responsibility to know what you are buying and all advice you ask for and receive will be just that, advice. Take it all with a grain of salt and be thankful that it is not you who has to do the clean-up on aisle 4.
