Petsmart geos?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I know! The food and medication is sooo much cheaper there than anywhere else. I can find most other items like dechlorinator at lower prices in nearby towns from little pet supply shops or LFS, but I'll never find a can of ColorBits for 2.99 anywhere but Petsmart. They keep goldfish with the tropicals, use those horrid feeder blocks, centralize their filtration and sell weak strains of livebearers, but the food and medicine prices keep me walking through the door.

What type of Geos do they have? I may have to pay my local petsmart a visit. I am intrigued to say the least.

I saw Geophagus Surinamensis at the one I was at.

interesting

They've been carrying Snooks for years. They just started carrying Surinamensis a few weeks ago in my area.

they're labeled "surinamensis "... i've been seeing those other lfs around also . however , i suspect the experts will confirm they are not "surinamensis" .... they loook like little abalios to me ... like this one ...

i also saw these geos at a couple of the petsmart stores near my area as well. i am interest in getting them and would really like to know their true name. would any geos experts ID them please if possible, thanks.

My fiance works at a local petsmart in New York and they just started getting geos about 2 weeks ago. I agree that they are probably not surinamensis and also that they are abalios. Mine have the blue iridescent stripes down the side, a very faint spot, and red eyes. about 2 inches long atm. however, unless you've personally worked at a petsmart don't bash them. my fiance has worked at other chains and actually called OSHA and the local SPCA because of the atonishing disregard for animal welfare at other places. Petsmart contracts a local, private vet, and ANY animal that is sick gets a visit to the vet, even a 1.99$ mouse. Aids (the fiance, we call her aids, her name is adrienne) is an animal caretaker and spends an awful lot of time in the fish dept. their water is pristine. They take excellent care of their fish. In fact, of my 3 severums, the one i bought there is probably the healthiest. Likewise with some of the africans i bought there for my african tank. I'm not a corporate whore, and am actually an intense conspiracy theorist, but i gotta say, when it comes to animal care, petsmart is bomb. not to mention all the wonderful things they do finding greyhounds and cats and other dogs homes.

Oh, jesus. the reason i posted was. i spoke to aids' boss. they will be carrying geos normally now.

It's funny after reading this post a day later I went to petsmart and guess what I saw.... Yup 3 little geos.
