Yep we got them 3 weeks ago on a Friday for our store. Got the marimo moss balls and a few other "new" fish too.

Petsmart uses those "horrible Feeder blocks" in feeder and bottom feeder tanks only. This is to ensure that those fish will get something to eat if they happen to not eat when feeding is done in the morning and so they can "graze" during the day. They also ensure that their herbivorous and some omnivores get increased veggies in the mornings...I've never seen a LFS do that on a regular basis. And there is nothing wrong with centralized filtration (not when you are running a dozen UV lights to kill bacteria and parasites). Every Petsmart i have ever been in (and thats maybe a dozen in different areas of the country) have always had clean tanks and relatively healthy stock. I've seem more than a few LFS who only wish their tanks looked like Petsmart's. In any of the PM's i've been to, I have yet to see any fish infected with ick. Just because they are a large chain store does not make them bad.

Agreed!

In Bakersfield California, both PetSmarts are selling Geos... I bought 8 of them a couple of weeks ago. All healthy... no issues... and all appear to be Abalios. $5.99 each beat anything I could have had shipped to me. I was in Vegas a few days ago and one of the LFSs there was selling similiar stock for $21.99.

Credit where credit is due... PetSmart hit this one out of the park!

dont like petsmart to pricy my lfs gives me discounts on EVERYTHING his is giving me a 45 gal for sixty bucks (glass)

It is true...some of there hard goods are higher priced (depending on what it is) than you can find online at say Foster and Smith Aquatics (thats what happens when you have a retail space vs warehouse space), but they are always lower than any of the LFS stores in my area. When it comes to actual aquariums though, the price for just a tank is almost always lower than my LFS's, but when you combine a stand, the LFS's win.

Please don't get me wrong, LFS certainly have their place...when you want something new or a little more rare, they really can't be beat. But their prices are usually higher (it's not their fault...they just can't buy the volume that chains can). PM's tanks are always cleaner...I actually believe this is because in a large chain store, there is accountability...good corporations with good management, really care about customer satisfaction and if something is wrong, it gets fixed...or heads will roll...at a LFS there isn't really a lot of accountability.

Oh and by the way (so Im not too far off the thread) the local PM in Leesburg, Va does not have geos yet (they have orange blotch peacocks instead) but the stoe in Martinsburg, Wv has them. I live between them so those are the 2 PM's I go to the most.

I wouldn't know if the local pet smart has geos or not. I'd rather shop at a LFS, which I am very lucky to have so many close by.

We have 2 PMs in Spokane. the one in the valley blows, their tanks are not always the greatest so I do not go in there. The one at North point is awesome. The lady in charge of the fish section (who is also the manager) is very nice and knowledgeable. She and her crew take excellent care of the fish and water. I constantly hear them telling people not to put Oscars, koi, Jags, pacus, and other large fish into small aquariums.

We have 3 LFS here. 2 are excellent, the other has multiple locations and they are just as bad as the petcos around here(which are terrible. I mostly shop at the PM up north and my favorite LFS(Guppy Tales).

I have not seen any geos at my petsmart tho.
