lol most fish are much cheaper than that, mostly $10 - 20 for juvies and stuff, but things a bit more exotic can bring huge prices

I'm not sure the aussie store owners would want to price match, I think they would rather send you over to their competition, seeing as how shipping prices, and scarcity of certain fish warrants a hefty price tag in Australia. An assumption made from his previous post. . . Who knows. . .

It's only sad if someone buys it!!! I noticed alot of these complete set-ups at my local Petsmart. I think they are just trying to catch lazy holiday shoppers.

Only a select few LFS have a website. All they do is promote thier store and give glossy images on thier setups. No prices.
And yes, for a NATIVE jardini that you can literally catch 1 hour down the road (from me anyway), will cost you an average of $200 for a 10-12" specimen. I've only ever seen another strain of arowana. It was a plain silver, and at 14" or so, lugged at $595 price tag.
Everything sucks.
