It just sucks for those of us who do have a good knowledge of fish that work at Petsmarts and Petcos. I never tell people what they can and can't do with their tank. I give them the general guidelines and sometimes advise them not to do what their about to do or what they will need to do in the near future but if someone wants to push the limits of even just go way off the beaten path I let them. That includes feeding your fish whatever other fish you want. I do make some exceptions when they want to put "Nemo" is a fish bowl but I think I'm justified. FYI you are correct about Petsmarts training. Petco however is a little more detailed but mainly focuses on setup. They encourage you to do more research on whatever is in your department. Sometimes I like to go to petsmart and point out that half of the "information tags" are wrong does that make me a bad person? lol. But if you're ever on the north side of Indianapolis on N. Michigan Rd. come check my section out. We can talk fish all day if you want. I know a couple of guys who can vouch for me on this. I may be bound by the rules and regulations of Petco (wich don't include refusing danio sales) but I'll be damned if I don't have one of the cleanest aquatics sections in the area.
BTW- I'm not disputing the fact that there are idiots who work at these kind of places, I'm just trying to prove the point that there are good people who know what they are doing as well. I have found that to be true more so in a lot of Petcos as apposed to Petsmarts. Not bashing...just observing.

^^ That's true around here too. There are some people at my local petco that are fine (one actually knows to seperate african and SA cichlids :-X. )
Had the same problem, but for ghost shrimps. They wouldn't sell it to me unless I am buying them for the purpose of cleaning tanks. I told them yes...that's exactly what I am buying them for.
It is in fact Company policy to not sell Rodents or Non-Feeder fish at Petsmart. Not all people at Petmart/ Petco are stupid and this flaming is rediculous and an insult to humanity I'm not a Petsmart Stereotype and you shouldn't flame people or blame employees for doing their job. Everyone has to start somewhere no one is born knowing everything about fish....Rant over TTFN
