PH advice for new ray kepper

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
no just leave it for now....

Now on 5.28, is this still ok or is it going to shoot up to 7 before the before the night is up? I heard rays hate ph changes over short periods of time? Shall I take some coral out so it slows down? Any help appreciated.

You may want to take some out. Continue to monitor the situation to ensure that your pH does not climb too quickly. You are correct, large pH swings over a short period of time are not good for any fish, especially your rays.

5.45 :( Are my rays doomed? Would it be a good idea to do a 25ltr change immediately and add half a tea spoon of sodium bicarbonate to the water before adding to increase the kh as it is still 1? Please help

your ph is rising gently so don;t worry about removing any crushed coral,i don't think it will make any real difference and your rays should be fine, just keep changing water , 25%-50% each day, more than once per day if you feel like it. Rays handle a ph increase much better than a sudden drop, monitor ammonia levels carefully.

Sadly I added baking soda as recommended and my ph is now 7.67. Im completely lost and have no idea what to do. Ive just done 2 x 25 ltr water changes of tap water (after treating it with prime). Ive also taken the coral out and my kh now reads @ 5. I hope they survive.

This morning ph fluctuating between 7.78 and 7.81. Shall I continue to do water changes with tap to get it down slightly? Both the rays and discus are fine.

Now at 7.75, looks like its going down slowly. I've also measured the KH which is 5

sounds like ur in the clear now. do small water changes every day to bring it to the same ph as ur tap.
