careful with the phosphate dosing....... it can lead to algae blooms easily. flourish works well for my tank

Things look like they are starting to even out. I had quite a bit of browning as of late, but it looks as though things are coming back......hopefully.

the browning is normal... to an extent... when starting a new setup. i second that flourish comment. it seems to have made my amazon sword much greener and fuller since i started dosing it! or u can dose seachem potassium. flourish has a little bit of K in it but its mostly micronutrients..

oh yes i almost forgot! did u ever put root tabs in!? i would highly recommend it since ur using an inert substrate. certain plants can only adsorb iron via roots systems.

u spent so much money and have such a nice setup, im curious.. why u went with the pool filter sand?

Pool filter sand was the choice of the wife. She wanted a lighter substrate. She didn't like flourite, Eco complete or the aquarium substrate I was going to use. I was told it didn't matter as long as I used ferts, so I went with her choice to make her happy.

I might still look at root tabs. I was told that I didn't need them as long as a used a solid fert method.

I use gravel as my substrate. Since it's inert, I had to add root tabs in order for the heavy root feeders to even survive. Adding fertz to the tank directly can only go so far.

I hear ya. I will definitely look into getting some. I just really don't want to pay shipping for $7 worth of tabs. I wish I could find them locally.

look into roots tabs. its a cheap and easy method of enriching ur substrate. i dont let my girlfriend deal with my tanks anymore... never turns out right...
