Philippine Snake Head?

barbs are of the minnow/ carp family while the bangus is of the mikfish family.. :)
I havent tried the dalag with sampaloc and bagoong, but i would like to try it, it sounds good..what do you use the sampaloc leaves or fruit? and does the bagoong go in the pot or is it used like kare kare?

I have tried dalag stewed in ginger, tomatoes, onions and mustasa leaves..yum yum:drool:

lol i dont know that Snake head is "dalag" in tagalog.

E ayos pala tong thread na to eh! naging ulam ang usapan! btw, if i may add, i've seen a 3foot hito once. this was in Isabela, back in 1994 0r 95 i think. my uncle there raises them in a fish pond. we came to visit and he had us a tast of his harvest. for some reason, they called it african hito. tsalap! :)

Master said that he was surprised to see that there were lots of Filipinos here at MFK he thought he was the only one..and that he likes Maya-maya a local saltwater fish that is actually a red snapper I think and that there were lots of them oin ilokos a Province north of Manila, and that he likes it and also kare kare which is a peanut stew with ox tail and tripe with fish paste as a dipping sauce...:) All that and that he is a bichir collector
