With the camera I have.. is there a way to increase shutter speed even more Without making it too blurry or dark

all slrs have the controls, there must be a dial on the top left hand side of the camera, that has P A S M written, each of these alphabets mean
*programmable
*aperture priority
*shutter priority
*manual
modes.

When i set the shutter to like 250 or more the pics are dark.. do I need more lighting?

Isnt the aperture the smaller digit? when i go 250 shutter the aperture adjusts to like 4.5

Thank you! I didnt know u have to use flash, i use flash on the camera and i get this reflection of me in the glass
