I knew the fish at the resort werent giant barb (they have elongated bodies and all the photos I find show a completely different bodyshape) I am still curious wha the resort biggies are, it was the photos I found of the giant barbs that captured my imagination.
I am curious still about the Giant Barbs though, how different are they than Koi in terms of care? I do have a large mud pond that I have used to grow out my Butterfly Koi before putting them in the display pond, so that wouldnt be an issue for me.

Teriffic fish, how old is it? And whats the secret.
I love these Aquarium side shots of the fish! I have been entertaining the idea of keeping some of mine in an Aquarum just to enjoy the side views of them.![]()

just waiting for some one to crack a Li joke.....fugupuff;4503601; said:I don't think so, they just look like that, short and squat, even the adults have an unusually high back
Actually there are two varieties the black ones pictured above and silver ones. I read this somewhere in my search for info on them. I have both types the silver sp. has a longer more slightly slender body. Silvers fins are smaller and eyes are smaller. The black ones do have a more shorter higher back there fins are bigger. I got the black ones from you Wes. The silver ones I got from bassmasterp. Dave when I got yours I immediately noticed how silver they were. I first thought they were just flush from shipping. But they never got darker like my black ones. But now its clear they are the two different sp. probably from two different areas.fugupuff;4503601; said:I don't think so, they just look like that, short and squat, even the adults have an unusually high back
