Picked up a 535

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just wanted to ask a follow up question. How much flow are you pushing through your ultima? Does it move your sand around at all?

I’m really thinking of doing sand but worried about the pump.
I have my pump dialed back about 30 percent. No issues with the sand at all.

Damn Robin! Doing big things out west! I rarely venture out of the bicher and classified forums, but I'm glad I did. New tank looks incredible.

Great to hear from you Mike. And I’m glad you didn’t leave the hobby like you were thinking a few months back. Thanks for the compliments bro. I’ll be posting updates as you know I love putting tank scapes together.

I hope all is well. Miss seeing the NNJ crew. Please pass my hellos to everyone!

Loving every minute of this new setup. Changed a few minor details around. I’m happy for now. Pumps, power head, wood, pants, and rocks where I want them.

This is a longer video. One day I’m going to look back on this video and remember it fondly.

Tank looks better and better each update. Curious to know where you want your pants.
I guess it was premature to say the scape was finished. I don’t think any scape is ever really finished. So much detail you can add and so many cool vendors that offer unique aquascaping products like tannin aquatics. This tank will entertain me for years to come.

I’m still figuring out and tinkering with this tank. Over time many of these fish will be removed as I figure out what to keep and what to pass on. I’m weighing adding two or three more species of plants that both float and attach to wood. This weekend I removed a large piece of wood and reconfigured and added four more pieces of wood to the hard scape.

Once I figure it out, I’ll post a new update.

Thanks everyone!

Decided to remove the swords. I got a bunch of anubias I’ll have to glue to the wood near the surface. The swords were over-powering and had to go.

Also removed several pieces of wood and made some adjustments. The look is cleaner now.

I’ll have to decide which species of fish I’m going to keep long term. Right now they’re growing out but already I see the need for a few stocking changes. Expect to see the school of Altifrons for sale in the future.

Quick vid and some pics.
