Picks of my Pickerel

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Its a chain, cuz of the black line under the eye, and the look of a bar like patern on the side

But anyways it looks good

As Gator said, the way to determine the ID here is the snout length (snout length from tip to eye is longer than eye to posterior of the gill cover) and the "chain" like pattern on the side.
Gator You're doing a great job, try not to get too frustrated. Funny that I'm giving advice on not getting frustrated :)

Great pics

Thanks Teleost,

To the OP does your uncle have the 200 already? If not you might want to get a little bigger tank than a 200 for that Chain Pickeral since they can get up to 36" but more commonly around 24"-30". The tip of his bottom jaw already looks like hes been bumping into the tank sides quite a bit. If not make sure you keep that water in pristine condition to minimize the stress.

Very nice, I miss mine, just need the money to get another.
Where'd you get it?

Dad was ice fishing recently. I was cycling my tank. He decided to drop by with the "present".

Thats a great looking fish, how large does he get when full grown? also great pics, what kind of camera do you use??

Thanks. It can go up as big as 36" but must stay under 20". The camera is a coolpix s550 with macro mode enabled.

well be sure not to use harmful chemicals to treat the water when he does get the size of dinner

Which'ever kind it's determined to be, I think it looks very good & predatory, and even photogenic. I must try one someday.

He used to swim away from me at the beginning. Now he will either position himself and watch TV or watch me when TV is off. Real creepy. I caught him staring at my wife a few times as well. Getting jealous:)
