Mumtron;2724244; said:wow nice baby monster. i would love to see it inhaling large feeders. is it a grass pickeral or a red finned pickeral?
Gator;2724688; said:Thanks Teleost,
To the OP does your uncle have the 200 already? If not you might want to get a little bigger tank than a 200 for that Chain Pickeral since they can get up to 36" but more commonly around 24"-30". The tip of his bottom jaw already looks like hes been bumping into the tank sides quite a bit. If not make sure you keep that water in pristine condition to minimize the stress.

well be sure not to use harmful chemicals to treat the water when he does get the size of dinnerDiskord;2725095; said:Dad was ice fishing recently. I was cycling my tank. He decided to drop by with the "present".
Thanks. It can go up as big as 36" but must stay under 20". The camera is a coolpix s550 with macro mode enabled.
Like the other posters said. Chain pickerel. I've seen him feed once. Its pretty cool.
Plan is when he gets to big...he's dinner.![]()
i see what your saying but there was no need to look that deep into it for this fish.teleost;2724559; said:MT
As Gator said, the way to determine the ID here is the snout length (snout length from tip to eye is longer than eye to posterior of the gill cover) and the "chain" like pattern on the side.
Gator You're doing a great job, try not to get too frustrated. Funny that I'm giving advice on not getting frustrated
Great pics
