Hey whats up bro! I am in Fresh Meadows, Queens.

Where did your pops catch the Chain Pickerel? I caught a few at Oakland Lake near Queensborough community college right by northern blvd.

I was with my girlfriend fishing last summer and I caught one at that lake and she's like "aww he looks cute lets take him home" Im like sweety....it will be like 20 something inches someday and a 75 gallon tank is not gonna work


I threw him back ......when I fish there I always catch something out of the ordinary...I'll go crazy using kool Bass lures and instead of getting LMB I get Chain Pickerel. I use corn and bread for the Bluegills and I end up with a Carp

Actually my father caught it upstate NY (Monticello area) and delivered it to me

You say that now .......but wait till you have the Chain Pickerel for about a year or 2.

When I had my largemouth bass I swore I would just give it away when it got to big no problem its a dumb fish.

When I gave it away last year it was the first time any of my friends saw a 26 year old cry while giving away a pet fish.

Their personalities grow on you and they almost become like a pet dog when you get home they wait for you and they show you that they are excited to see you home so you can feed them.

Ya its growing on me. My wife hates it...so ofcourse she wanted her OWN fish. Without asking, she goes to LFS and buys one of those ugly fat gold fish. Now I stay up at night waiting for the MOMENT!

Pikes and Pike related fish are so awesome! they are like the barracudas of freshwater!keep us updated on his! id love to see a 2ft monster eating a 8 inch bass!

He'll soon be going to a 125g (will be making stand and sump next weekend) That's where he'll really flourish

You've got some nice head-on pics. of him.
If he is getting used to you being around, why not try silversides or market shrimp. Use the feeders as snacks?

Well...issue is the tank is a 55. At the rate he's eating, he'll outgrow it by summer. Then he would go to the 125 which would mean back to feeders. I dont know if I want to mess with him like that.

He changes colors. Sometimes they get reallly nice and dark, usually after eating. My 125 will be all native and no chemicals so anything that outgrows the 125 will be food.
