First feeding back in small tank, ate one single pellet. Showed interest, was hungry, still only came up once. Maybe that's a good sign for the first day.

Day 2, came up to the glass was excited, was the first one to smoke the top, took 2 pellets in one go, chewed em a bit as never came back up. Obviously at this point I know I gotta keep going with the pellets, but it's so annoying knowing he knows its food, why does he eat less than 1/3 what the fish half his size are eating?

Listen bro, keep at it. You've won the battle. I KNOW its hard, cuz u want him to be smashing tons of pellets to be fat, healthy, and growing quickly. But u gotta hang in there. This exact thing happen to 3 of my cichla. 2 of which are supposedly the hardest to get on pellets (kels). At first, they starved, then took pellets but spat them out, then took just 1 or 2 pellets. A part of me was like,
"this is BS, they'll never grow and get big by eating 1 or 2 a day, screw it, go back to their other foods", but the other side of me said, "screw you cichla, I'm the boss and ur gonna eat what I want you to eat!" So I kept with the pellets, within 2 weeks, they were SMASHING massivore. Mean 5-8 pellets each, they looked pregnant lmao. And ever since then, all they eat is pellets, I've tried their previous food (tilapia) they eat just a few and ignore the rest, turns out they rather have pellets then frozen foods.

when ever I have picky fish I soak their pellets in garlic extract or crushed garlic. something about the smell makes them want to eat, you could give that a shot

Thanks for the support guys, I agree I gotta keep at it, at least I'm close to victory with him eating a few. Good to see others share the same feelings as me, I just want him fat and healthy and he's being uncooperative. But your right, I'm smarter than these fish (I hope) so they'll eat what I tell em. Just hard to find azuls around here, but obviously he's not gonna die, just hate seeing bass not pig out. So far he's leaving the xingu alone for the most part (who always looks pregnant and grew at least a cm in the week the azul wasn't there to chase him) and the broko who was less than half the size of the azul is less than an inch from catching up to his size. Amazing.

As for the garlic, I don't wanna mess around with changing the taste of the pellets just yet cuz then I don't want him to refuse non garlic ones after, but I have used garlic spray to attract fish when I'm angling, so I will definitely try that if the going gets tough, thanks for the suggestion.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, day 3, came up for one pellet, chewed it, and never came back up. How can a bass survive off one pellet a day, jesus.
