What is the floss for above the Lava rock? Nice sump bro!

Oh no real purpose I just like to soak the flow before I use it sometimes that way the water is spread evenly over it when I put it in the drawer. Sometimes the dry new floss is hard to set in place.

Although having it in the sump like that helps catch some of the free flowing particles.

Actually it doesn't I don't fill past that acrylic line that supports that drawer when I open it. When the power goes out the water level will rise close to very top but does not go over.
