can you explain how to make a floss chamber? And if I were to run a canister would I have to modify anything? Like could I just drop in a xp3?

build walls to divide the wet/dry.. use eggcrate or similar to keep floss in place.

I only thought I would use the HOBs for mechnical filtration. My wetdry dosnt really cover mechnical filtration. My stock list is a follows

Jack Dempsey
Green Terror
Green texas
Gold severum
Firemouths or Cons(maybe)
Silvar dollars
Clown Loaches

if you put a good prefilter on it WILL cover mechanical filtration. I have a 265 with some fish that crap human size turds and my wet dry alone is more than enough mechanical filtration

damn you guys are great. I was planning on putting prefilters on my rios but I just havnt found any. And I will probobley add a floss chamber or a couple internal filters. And the money I save not buying hob's will go toward my other tanks or different stuff for this one, like a UV sterilizer!

Nothing like the look of a new tank. . . HOB's are unnecessary. . . run a cannister if you want from the overflow otherwise to save money (I'm like a jew with my fish) you can just put a filter cloth across the input to the overflow and change it regularly. JMHO

im diggin the jets for the cichlids. i wouldnt do them for anything BUT cichlids but they are need fitting. it looks a hell of alot bigger than what you say. it looks like you have plenty of room for the filter tray in the WD so go for it.

pics of my UGJ fittings and my spray bar. I dont like the look of the spray bar, its pretty ugly just hanging there. Any ideas on making it look better? I want to paint it black or coat it with playsand. Any one know of a paint thats aquarium safe? I am also comtemplating painting the back black, yay or nay? Just looking for advice/suggestions.
