Snook000 i think you held your own in this debate some of these people who were picking on you dont have lives and they probly couldnt make a tank as cool as yours the tank looks alot better now good luck man
Okay, I've kind of been ignoring your posts up until this point, but I think it's starting to go too far. Yes, people shouldn't have been quite as harsh as they were toward the OP, but this is the internet and people are going to say what they think (a lot more so than they probably would in an actual conversation), so when you post something on the internet that is obviously wrong, whether you're aware of it or not, you are bound to get plenty of very negative replies. Saying that these people have no lives is just ignorant, and your final statement ("they probly couldnt make a tank as cool as yours") is just laughable. There is nothing cool about keeping fish in rediculously poor conditions, and claiming that there is just shows that you are either completely ignorant, or you are just being a kiss a**. Either way, your comments are not doing anything to help the situation.

Hi Snook,

I can only dream of having some of the species you have access too.
We can not get them at all in Australia or they have just been made illegal (sux)

I check the nitrates every Friday when I get home and change 40% if they have hit 20ppm.

When I had just started I overstocked and didn't know why I kept having losses, turned out water was clean but not stable for long enough due to the small volume.
Stability is important too.
So I reduced the number of fish in my tanks and have not looked back.

For example I have a 1400 Litre tank for the following:
1 x 9inch male Caquataia Umbriferum (umbee)
1 x 8inch female Caquataia Umbriferum (umbee)
1 x 5inch Herichthys Carpinte
1 x 6inch Marron (SouthWesternAustralian crustaecean)

That is it.

In my 810L I have:
1 x 10inch Female Festae
1 x 10inch common Plecostomus
5 x 2inch Festae Juvies (will become 1 soon as I determine the male)

Understocking is the go, stability of your system, reduced maintenance and happier fish.

Whatever you go with, just understock and your fishkeeping will be easy.

i just spent $20 on him like a week ago

Hmm, today is Sunday the 26th, On Sunday the 12th (Two weeks ago) when you started this thread the eel you only got a week ago was in the pictures.

Must be a magic eel?

Please find your magic eel a new home.

Something to think about with regard to the advise you have been given at the pet store. The people working at the pet store need you to spend $ so they can keep their store open. All of their advise is going to have the simple fact that you give them money every time you buy something involved. They tell you an eel is fresh water, you buy one, they make $. You find out it can't live n fresh water, they sell you salt mix and a new tank, they make $$. They tell you that ginormous fish can fit in a little tank, and you buy the big fish, they make $$. You learn of your mistake and buy a bigger filter or a bigger tank, they make $$.

If they gave you good advise, they wouldn't make any $$. They aren't selling fish because they like fish, they are doing so to make $$.

There is no one on this board that will make $$ trying to give you advise. We give advise simply because we love fish. We aren't as interested in keeping you happy as we are in keeping your fish happy. They guy at the fish store wants you to be happy, because if you are happy you spend $$ in his store. He really doesn't care about the fish except that he can make $$ by selling them.

guys seriously this is getting pathetic, clearly this kid cant keep fish, and why is there a brackish/saltwater eel in a cramped freshwater tank with other monster fish. Maybe i was wrong about being arrested, i dont know the laws in america but i clearly stated maybe in my post therefore u cant quote me on it. No need to jump on my back as if i was stunting my fish, like some1
