Wow. this thread needs to be shut down. I hate it when everybody on MFK acts like Peta, telling people they are stupid or saying you must hate your pet for keeping it in a small tank. quite the contrary. It is their pet, on their property, and they took the liberty to share their pet with the rest of the world. Said person might not be a responsible fish keeper in your eyes, but who are you to police what they do? More importantly, who are you to point a Blame thrower and torch people until they feel degraded, humiliated and embarrassed? Get off your damn throne and look in the mirror, We have all done something stupid in the past. This should be a thread to learn from, but its only teaching hate ppl who keep small tanks. not everybody is forunate enough to have a 300G acrylic with flourescents. lest you forget, this is www mfk com You really need to know what the 3 W's are for? World Wide Web.
There is no reason to have 8 pages on this thread. I wont even bother reading all the pages.

:iagree: Well said we need people to educate not exasserbate the situation .

hey dude.. i know you've been hearing lotsa stuff bout ur red tail. and man, i hafta reiterate to you that what they are saying is true... i know how close us fishkeepers become to our pets, but man... ya need to do everything in your power for that fish you bought to live a life the same as it should have lived in it's natural habitat. it is your responsibility as it's owner to do so.

perhaps the lessons that we learned here could be that we must know the fish we will get even before buying and map out it's course. we don't want to be impulsive buyers with little knowledge about our thang. LAstly, We have to keep in mind that as fish keepers, we all have responsibilities towards our fishes.

and maybe with the knowledge of this responsibility comes the education we need to take good proper care of em.

peace.

I bought a 2" RTC a few weeks ago because he was cute and the price was right. I currently had 4 RTC's and he makes 5 :screwy: The lfs had 4 of them and I picked the smallest one. WELL one week later 2 of the last 3 have died and the last survivor didnt look good. My little guy is doing awesome and had I not bought him he too would be dead or dying. Was I wrong for buying him ??? I have no idea what I'm going to do with him but he's mine anyway. Anyone who can provide a halfway decent life for a RTC is OK in my book. Most dont make it past the wholesaler, let alone the LFS. Everyone needs to stop the flaming and go do a water change or something...........OH I almost forgot.....No need ....you water quality is perfect right :hitting:

It takes about 6month from 3" to 12" and will be quite sometime before it grow to super big. Dun know what wrong with you people. It not like tomorrow will be suddenly 4ft fish right. I bet you all never keep this fish before... only worry that they will be very big and all the info is taken from the net only. I know how to keep my fish and I dun need you all to teach. I think you all dun even know what the different between my RTC and other RTC just by the look of the picture.

i got a rtc from my lfs dident know how big it got till it was 2 late but i had mine in a 55g long and gave to my friend with a 500g they go from 12in to 18 in 2 months and got about 8 in wide find some one with a big tank and say good bye :banhim:

does this RTC's spine look like a cork screw yet?
