Pictus
Grows to 6". Much bigger than that and you'll have to have ruler and photographic proof for most of us here to see.
Generally tends to be much happier in groups of 5 or more.
Notice the white stripe that begins at the front of the dorsal fin.

Blochii
Grows roughly 10-12". Varies in pattern, but has the distinguishing black dot at the front of the dorsal.
Does ok in groups while young, but as they get larger they become more terretorial.

Yeah I cant wait to set up the 90. Totally going for about 3 more pictus cats and maybe a few emerald green corys. I love that Eamon (my pictus) has totally joined my "wolf pack" of gf. My calico fantails love to head him off from the food, so then he just plows right into them than swims circles around them. I hope he would get along fine with some of his own kind.wish me luck!
Ok, sorry about that post from flstffxe- it is supposed to be me. My darling fiancee didnt log off last time. He is such a sweetie. Im feeling bad so he is going to take me out to get my green corys. Gotta love a relationship like that! I think that makes him a keeper ;-)
i have had a few pictus cats. One in a 55 with perfect water measurement that died violently and randomly. Another that started having convulsions and seizures (Writhe around then suddenly strike a pose and fall head first into the gravel) He died rather quick as well my third one was a well picked one from a fresh batch at the lfs... never figured out why he was laying upside down about 5 months after owning him. Its really tragic because I take excellent care of my fish and I love this species so active and HUNGRY 24/7 I miss them all
^really? my pictus seems to be my most hardy fish other than my convict
just recently he got a large wound that healed within days
heres a pick of the wound
